This story is about Emilia. She is 70 years old. We met her in one of the villages of northern Moldova where poverty prevails and many elderly people are forgotten. Three years ago Emilia was misdiagnosed and as a result of no access to proper medical care, both of her legs were amputated. She and her husband, who has stage 4 cancer, live alone. They have one daughter who works abroad as a tutor and sends all the possible funds back to support her immobile mom and her terminally ill dad. We immediately knew we wanted to help her get back on her feet. Literally. So we’ve arrange for her to go get thoroughly examined and get fitted for proper prosthetics. And a few days back she tried walking for the first time in 3 years. Her courage and determination are palpable and contagious. She’s making great progress towards total mobility. Emilia is one of many people that don’t have anyone looking out for them in rural Moldova. With our elderly facility project, we’re aiming to make a tremendous impact in the lives of many more. Thank you for watching, helping and spreading the word.
Never stop exploring. #earthday
Happy birthday baby 🎉
It’s easier to go down a hill but the view is from the top.
Two months ago me and my good friend @valentinsevo visited a Northern part of Moldova where hundreds of elderly folks were left to fend for themselves. What we saw was inhumane. The elderly men and women are abandoned. No family. No caregivers. No one comes to check up on them. The living conditions and illnesses are heartbreaking. There isn’t food or medication. Winters are spent without heat or showers because no one has running water or the means to get wood for warmth. So we decided to do something about it. We are building an elderly care facility in that region. This facility will house up to 30 people and will have clean beds, fresh food, round the clock care, and most importantly, companionship. The project is already in motion. We have hired full time social workers that are checking in and caring for those that need it most. The current homes are already being renovated to ensure good living conditions. We have purchased land that is directly across from a hospital and need your help with funding the construction of the facility. The project is estimated to cost $110,000 and we are looking to finish construction by the end of 2020. Over the last several years I have been fortunate to be a part of the @mosaic family in Los Angeles and have gained great friendship with @erwinmcmanus and @kimisalive . They have always supported humanitarian projects around the world as well as locally and this is no exception. When I came back from my trip to Northern Moldova and shared this story with them, they immediately committed to be a part of the project and help fund it. Mosaic has pledged to match the first $25,000 that we raise which will help propel this project so much further. If you’d like to make a larger tax deductible donation through Mosaic, you can do so here: https://tinyurl.com/voqklco Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for reading and sharing this story. Thank you for making a tremendous difference for those who cannot help themselves. Let’s do this. GoFundMe link in the bio.
Pain doesn’t tell you when you ought to stop. Pain is the little voice in your head that tries to hold you back because it knows if you continue you will change. - @kobebryant
Another country on this list 🇲🇺 This place is unreal.
There is something deeply disturbing about seeing your own people suffer. Suffer and have absolutely no chance for a better life. Because there is no family to help, no kids, no sibling and no government that cares. Elderly people are being written off here in Moldova. Not just by the government but also by the people around, by doctors, by hospitals. A few weeks ago my dad was told about a village in northern Moldova where hundreds of elderly folks live alone and forgotten. So we decided to do something about it. Me and @valentinsevo flew in yesterday and travelled to the North of Moldova today. What we saw was inhumane. The elderly men and woman are abandoned. No family. No caregivers. No one comes to help. The living conditions and illnesses are heartbreaking. These are folks who are blind and crippled. Who lost limbs and are suffering from cancer. And have no means to get any help. There isn’t food or medication. Winters are spent without heat and showers because no one has the means to get wood for warmth. And looking at all these people in complete disarray you understand that the very success God blessed you with is there for a reason. To give to those who will never to able to repay you. To help the most helpless and bring a piece of joy to those who probably won’t see another year in their life. Life is absolutely unfair. But we have the choice to do something about it. #Moldova
Moving to LA 5 years ago was hands down one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life. Now I get to share even better view of downtown LA with my amazing wife @julialeah , and do life with people who constantly push me to be better and do better. Absolutely grateful for the life I get to live in this crazy city of LA. . . @erwinmcmanus @guerofranco @sergeylysak @kinggabrosado @thecharleslew @trentluxury @ferretti_designer @alexmagala @valentinsevo @andreygubchak @misha_maga @pavlenko_maximall @dennismulyar @douglassonders @i_kitsen @jamarbrownking @evelina @hank @annalindtjorn @angelashae_ @vshcheglov and more.
War is an ugly thing. I came here with the intention to help. I know my effort might not leave a massive impact, but it doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t try and do at least something. Compassion does not just happen. It takes work, and constant decision to choose to do good. Compassion is a viewpoint, a way of life, a perspective. A habit that becomes a discipline. And more than anything else, compassion is a choice I make. Choosing that love is more important than comfort or convenience. But, if I decide to ignore the fire within, with time it will die down. Dulling the desire to take care of the needs God put in front of me. And even though compassion hurts and is often uncomfortable, I do my best to decide to do what’s right. To take care of what’s in front of me. #ukraine #war #warzone
I remember driving to the Port au Prince airport in Haiti to pick up a few people that were arriving to join our team. One of them was Barry @barryzitomusic . We came to Haiti to look at some of the existing Water projects which have been built and also plan future ones with a non profit I was a part of. We spent 4 days there and every evening me and Barry would sit at the bar drinking local beer and chatting about life, family and everything in between. I knew he was a ball player but didn’t know any details as he never even said a word about his career or the major contract that he signed in 2006. At the time, it was the largest contract ever given to a pitcher - $126mill. During one of the conversations I found out that he was supporting veterans during his time in SF and I shared with him about Reggie a veteran I recently met and did a documentary about - who was a huge Giants fan. Literally a week later Barry made an arrangement to get Reggie on the field before the game, meet with the CEO of the Giants and have a huge welcome message for him before the game. This is just a little glimpse into who Barry is. He is truly an incredible human being. And he just released a book about his life journey called Curveball. So if you wanna hear an absolutely incredible and life changing story pick up his book and read it.
No matter what avenue I choose, I want to be the very best. And, the very best may not be #1 , but the very best may be ‘Did I leave everything inside of me out there? Sometimes it’s easy to compare yourself against other people. But when you compete against other people, you judge yourself based on their standards and metrics. The problem with this is even if you win, you only do something that’s important to them, not you. Life is a competition, but it’s not a race against anyone else. Rather, the real journey is only against yourself and unrealized potential. #davidgoggings
Is it shark week yet? 🦈🦈
So what’s your excuse? Are you too tired after work? Are you too busy? Is it too far to drive to the gym? Is it too cold where you live? Is is too hot where you live? Maybe you don’t have anyone to workout with? If you’re allowing these excuses to live in your head - you’re losing. The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bulls**t story you keep telling yourself as to why you can't do it. #letsgo #goldsgym #noexcuses #davidgoggins #jordanbelford photo @misha_maga
You always wanna be in a place where someone else is ahead of you. You never want to be at ahead of the class. You always want to be around people bigger than you, smarter than you, better than you, faster than you, more successful than you. Because better people make you better. Bigger people make you bigger. In fact if you are at ahead of the class, you’re in the wrong class. @johncmaxwell ...
Walking into the unknown.
Exploring the world together since 2015.
There’s something special about creating. Even though lately, I don’t pick up my camera often, when I get the chance to photograph someone I am reminded why I was drawn to photography in the first place. Last week we went out to the Lancaster desert and photographed my Mexican cousin @guerofranco . Check out the BTS in stories. More photos to come ✌🏼 📸 @julialeah
