On this day in 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright made the very first successful controlled flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft, piloting the Wright Flyer near Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The Wright Flyer stayed aloft for 12 seconds and covered 120 feet in its inaugural flight. There’s a museum that has the exact piece of the original fabric from the Wright Flyer, which is showcased near a replica of the airplane. And did you know that today marks the anniversary of the first flight? On this date 116 years ago, the Wright Brothers got off the ground for nearly one full minute in North Carolina. Today, we honor their innovation as we keep reaching for new heights! #powerofflight
